Surin Islands National Park  - Phang-Nga

Mu Ko Surin National Park is situated or Surin Islands National Park in the Andaman sea Approximately 60 km from the coast of Phang-Nga province in the southern peninsula region. The park covers an area of ​​Approximately 135 km of the protected area 102 km or 76% is sea. The park comprises 5 main islands, Koh Surin Nua, Tai Ko Surin, Ko Ree (Ko Stok), and Ko Ko Kai Pachumba (Ko Torinla). The islands are about 55 kilometers away from the Thai coastline heading towards Burma and Thai-Burmese The oceanic border is located a few kilometers north of the Park. Christie Island, Burma's southernmost point, lies 18 km to the north of Ko Surin Nuea and about 100 km to the south is Mu Ko Similan National Park.








These stunningly beautiful islands are open to visitors from November 16th to May 15th each year, the picture postcard beaches and excellent snorkeling are a big draw. The main activity enjoyed by visitors is snorkeling, closely followed by scuba diving.
Accommodation is the form of bungalows and tents, there are two on Koh Surin Nua Campsites.
 

The islands were declared a national park on July 9th,1981 in recognition of the beauty and unique islands to protect the fragile marine habitat. Green and Hawksbill turtles are frequent visitors to the islands, they come to nest on the Island Beach, in the rare Olive Ridley turtles 1990s some were also laying Their eggs here. Diving is not allowed in Certain areas of the park where conservation initiatives are taking place

Diving Season: The season runs from Surin Liveaboard mid October to early May, though for the best time to visit is from December to April. Outside of these months it can be wet and windy and not dive boats will venture there.


Details: The national park is only open from mid November to early May of each year. The National Park collect the admission fees of 400 baht for adults and 200 baht for children.

How to get there: Take the boat from Pier in Kuraburi Kuraburi District of Phang Nga. It is easiest from either Khao Lak, Koh Phra Thong or Khuri Buri mainland in Phang Nga Province. Travel to the Surin Islands is safe only from November to May. The park is closed in the other months. The office of the Mainland is in Ngan Yong Park, just north of Khuri Buri. Dive operators in Khao Lak offer live-aboard diving trips and day trips via SPEEDBOAT
